Ashtabula, Ohio - Flying Saucer Gas Station
Dec 24, 2011
In 1976 I went to Ashtabula, Ohio to see my friend's lounge band perform, and on the way home the next day I drove past the flying saucer gas station on route 20. I picked up my Super 8 camera and filmed the scene as we sat at the light. I think this was torn down in 1999.
Ice Storm Ashtabula Ohio 2008
Oct 26, 2010
God I love living in this town!...seriously. The city was without power for several days and I had to work several days straight at a hotel, first because the place was loaded with people with no power, then the next day when the place was stuffed with guys who came as far as Oregon to help fix it. That night if you stuck your head out the window you could hear a limb snap at least every five minutes.
David Francey Ashtabula (Lake Erie, Ohio)
Jan 09, 2012
David Francey sings about Ashtabula Ohio on Lake Erie, coal port, home of March Playmate 1960 Sally Sarell. Francey's voice is warm and inviting more than I've ever heard in his live performances. The images are borrowed from actual photos of Ashtabula found online. The song is from his album "The Waking Hour". This is a labour of love, should you have claim to any of this please state it in the comments. That would be kindly appreciated. David Francey & Mike Ford - Seaway 2009, Laker Music/SOCAN (Canada) You can learn more about David Francey at www.davidfrancey.com You can learn more about Mike Ford at www.mikeford.ca You can purchase a copy of Seaway from CDPlus, or you can download the album from iTunes. Lyrics: Ashtabula (Ohio) Kelli drove us down the lake On a bright Ohio day And we looked across the railway yards At the hoppers painted grey That coal train from Kentucky, man She's come a long long way Down in Ashtabula On a sunny summer's day Walked down to the harbour Down to the harbour side Where the coal was piled up waiting High and black and wide And it's waiting for a laker, man To carry it away Down in Ashtabula On a sunny summer's day And the tilting bridge Itself swings back And sail is given way And the cobbled streets That climb the hills Are fading red to grey In the maritime museum So high above the waves The pictures of the past recalled In black and white and grey But the Masters and the ships are gone Long since passed away Down in Ashtabula On a ...
Ashtabula Harbor, Ohio - Part 1 of 3
Jun 04, 2011
Just out for a drive and decided to stop in the Harbor of Ashtabula Ohio for this video. It was a nice day out and pretty calm without much wind along Lake Erie, not many days like this on the lakeshore. This is just a quick pan of the lakeshore lighthouse inland to the Bascule Lift Bridge. Watch for 2 more videos of the Lift Bridge raising and lowering also. This Lift Bridge is the only one of its kind still used for automobile traffic in the state of Ohio. Click on the link below for a very nice arial shot of this area and lots of other info on the Ashtabula Harbor and the Railyard here. en.wikipedia.org

Lake Erie Fishing Charters
If you ask any seasoned angler about their fishing techniques, they always seem to have a single, favorite presentation. Whether it is a professional bass fisherman with that plastic worm, or a seasoned salmon angler with that old Luhr Jensen J-Plug, everyone is guilty of being one dimensional from time to time. This is a problem that has become increasingly apparent on the waters of Lake Erie over the course of the last several years, where small walleye-sized spoons have monopolized angler's tackle boxes. These spoons surely take more than plenty of fish when the conditions are right, but many anglers seem too content on using spoons in all situations, which can lead to drastically lower catches. At certain times crankbaits and stickbaits ...
